Below are some of the BASIC Knots to create your own Plant Hangers, etc.
Square Knot
Four cords are used to make the square knot which is a combination of two half knots, one tied to the right, the other to the left. To make a square knot, cord 1 is placed over the two center cords and under cord 2.

Square Knot Picot
The square knot picot are square knots with (wings). Tie one square knot either to the left or right side. Tie a second square knot below first one with the same cords (the further down the second knot, the bigger the (wings) will be). Grasp the filler cords firmly and push the second knot up to the first.

Bring cord 4 under cords 2 and 3. Pull cord 4 up through hole between cords 3 and 1. Pull your working cords up tightly against the first half of the knot. You will now have a completed square knot. To tie an alternating square knot pattern, use 8 cords and tie one square knot with each group of four cords, one knot along side of the other knot. Tie a second row of square knots, using four cords, 3 and 4 from the square knot on the left and cords 1 and 2 from the square knot on the right. Tie one square knot using 4 and 1 for Holding cords and 3 and 2 as Working cords. This square knot should join the first row together.

Larks Head Knot
The
larks head knot is used to begin a knotted piece or to add cords when shaping.
The cords are doubled and looped over a holding cord or bar. Then the ends are
brought down through the loop. It can be tied from either side; choose the one
which most appeals to you. This knot can be tied vertically with two cords or
multiples of two. One cord is tied around the other, as in the illustration.
The tying cord is first looped over the holding cord. Then it is looped under
and pulled taut to complete the knot.

Spiral Knot
The spiral knot is a continuous series of the half knots.

Half Square Knot
The
half knot is made with four cords, two filler and two cords for knotting around
the filler cords. Always hold the filler cords taut either by wrapping them
around a clamp or by pinning them down.

Quick Tip
Bundling Cords - Bundle long cords before using them. Loop them back and forth in your hand. Wrap them with a rubber band.

Wrap Knot
A wrap knot is done by bringing a group of cords together and placing the cord used for wrapping over the top of the cords forming a loop. Using the same cord you made the loop with, begin wrapping neatly around and around your group of cords covering the loop completely under the wrapping. When you have wrapped as much as you want, pull the end of the cord through the loop at the bottom of the wrap. Pull the cord at the top which will pull the loop and cord up and underneath the wrap. The loop should be completely hidden under the wrap. Trim off the top and possible bottom cord as close to the wrap as possible.

Crown Knot
1. Bring the left-hand part of cord 1 over and back to the left around the right-hand cord 2.
2. Bring cord 2 up in back of cord 1 and straight down over cord 1, leaving loop.
3. Bring cord 1 over cord 2 and through loop.
4. Tighten the knot until one
loop disappears..

Overhand Knot
An overhand knot can be done with one or more cords. Make a loop with your cord then bring the end of the cord down through the loop.

Vertical Double Half Hitch
The
vertical double half hitch allows you to continue a color across your knotting
that would be hidden under cords with a the horizontal double half hitch. To
tie a vertical half hitch, use the horizontal cord as the tying cord. The vertical
cord now becomes your holding cord. Remember to keep the holding cord on top
of the tying cord. Make two half hitches for each knot. Pull down tight to complete
the knot.

Diagonal Double Half Hitch
Bring cord B up in back of cord A and straight down over cord A, leaving loop 1. alternating half hitch sinnet 1. Each stand alternates as the knotting and anchor cord. Begin by knotting the left strand over the right. 2. Then, knot the right stand over the left. 3. The Half Hitch chain untightened. 4. The tightened chain.

Alternating Half Hitch Sinnet
1. Each Strand alternates as the knotting and anchor cord. Begin by knotting the left strand over the right.
2. Then knot the right strand over the left.
3. The Half Hitch chain untightened.
4. The tightened chain
